If you’re looking for the most popular Yule cards this year, Hallmark reports that businesses are seeing red when they buy 2010 greeting cards for customers and colleagues.
The greeting card giant’s business-to-business subsidiary, Hallmark Business Connections, has identified the top five trends in the holiday cards being purchased for 2010:
1. Rich red is the color of 2010. “Red captures the warm vitality of the holidays in a way that is traditional and up-to-date all at once,” Hallmark says.
2. Sparkle and shine. “the shimmer of snowflakes and the twinkle of starlight pop against the deep night sky. Cards with images silhouetted against the night sky become hopeful reminders of the season of peace, joy and happiness is upon us.”
3. Follow Martha Stewart. Some are choosing the hand-assembled look: 3-D paper shapes and cut outs, embellishments such as buttons and ribbons give a hand-made look without the glue pot.
