Hearts and flowers... very much a classic Valentine's Day pairing! Show off your love this year by giving this easy to make pink floral heart photo frame.
For this project, you will need:
- A plain wooden photo frame
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor All Purpose White Primer
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Ballet Slipper
- Medium grit sandpaper
- Soft cloth
- Mod Podge or other decoupage medium
- Scissors
- Allison Ellis Gerbera Buds print paper
- Krylon Make It Last Clear Sealer
- Shrink paper
- Cookie sheet
- Preheated oven
- Black ink pad
- Lettering stamps
- Pencil
- Newspaper
It is generally a good idea that when working with spray paints, glues, and adhesives that your area is well ventilated and adequately coated with newspaper.
Remove the glass and backing from the wooden photo frame. Set safely aside. Gently "rough up" the wooden part of the frame with medium grit sandpaper. Prime the frame using Krylon Indoor Outdoor All Purpose White Primer. Allow the primer to dry. Apply two thick coats of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Ballet Slipper. Set aside.
With the lettering stamps and black ink, print a Valentine's Day sentiment directly onto the shrink paper. Some ideas for messages include "I Love You", "Be Mine", "Kiss Me" or simply "Happy Valentine's Day!". Use your imagination and be creative! Cut out each letter individually and place on a cookie sheet. Shrink according to manufacturer's directions in a preheated oven and let cool overnight.
Trace with a pencil and cut out several heart shapes from the Allison Ellis Gerbera Buds print paper. Apply a generous coat of Mod Podge or other decoupage medium directly onto the frame. Apply an additional amount on the backs of the heart shapes and the shrunken lettering. Adhere these cutouts to the frame and smooth away any bubbles with your fingertips. Let the project dry for one to two hours. Spray the wooden frame with Krylon Make It Last Clear Sealer and allow it to set for several hours.
Replace the glass in the frame, add a favorite photo, and secure the backing. Happy Valentine's Day! What a beautiful polyresin craft.
